A Painting has a Life All Its Own

A Painting has a Life All Its Own

i thought this would be turquoise skies & golden clouds!

I was dreaming of Maxfield Parrish skies & clouds. But once I started wiping, rolling, and spraying paint, new colors & images started to appear. It became a living landscape of some other world.

Then while reading a book about signs & symbols thru the ages, the Moon started forming into a wonderful, complex creature, who has guided our path since the beginning of time.  She appears glowing over a fiery sunset of clouds, wearing a silver crescent as a necklace.

Earlier in the week, I remembered a painting I had done back around 1998, of the Datura flower. It is used by Shamans to travel to non-ordinary reality, often creating a trance state for days! I couldn’t remember its title, but thought of going through my book of past images, to track it down. When La Luna took over my thoughts, I googled Moonflower, and there she was, the Datura flower of my memory! So I added the delicate Moonflower in the magic of 3’s to the painting. Instead of turquoise skies, all turned to Cobalt Blue!

So appropriate to complete this painting at the full moon of August time. La Luna carries us on an inner journey during this changing of the seasons cycle. Moon always reminds us that everything keeps shifting like the tides, nothing stays the same, and all that matters is living in the moment now, with all our senses open, in deep conscious appreciation of all before us.
