Amazing Connections are at Your Fingertips

Months ago, I bought Alcohol Inks and played with whatever I had on hand…wax resist for pottery. The above painting appeared. Recently I thought I’d join some Alcohol Ink groups online to see all that it can do. With my thanks for becoming a member, I posted my painting. The response was amazing! These groups are passionate, encouraging, and engaging. They wanted to know how I did this. If there was a video of it. At this point, without any notes on the process, I really had to become Sherlock and figure out what I did! Trying various possible resists, gesso, mat medium, and finally the wax resist, I knew it was the last one. So I set out to video my process.

The first painting I do is always the most spontaneous, vibrant, and energetic, so I don’t do exact repeats. I stayed with a mountain range image, and the same colors, but a different format. It became a step by step class, just as I would present it in a classroom. This is what makes online classes so appealing. I create in my own studio, people from around the world can view the process close up, and return to the video often at their own schedule. Brilliant concept!

So I went back to the wonderfully enthusiastic group with a gift, a Free Video Class of ‘how I did this’! Again, they were amazing in their responses. It made my day!  So follow your heart, try new things, and then share it, put it out there. You never know who you’ll meet, or the response you’ll get, but nothing will ever happen unless you Open to those New Worlds.
