Successful Artists Play

Successful Artists know that their art is as personal as their own definition of success. Each finds their inspiration in unique strange ways and then pursues it with a passion. Some are moved by the light, others by color, or the way the media feels and moves. But all in all, there are 3 basic beliefs all seem to follow.

First, Doing Art is absolutely a learned skill. There is an art language that explains our Mark making. Also, Basic Art Elements guide and inform all our creations. Knowing what those are, gives us a path to follow, and a successful trail to blaze. Moreover, when we can explain what we do and why we like it, confidence builds within us in all areas.

Secondly, experience ‘seeing’ as an artist sees. It’s a feeling of doing without thinking. In addition, seeing takes in a whole image in a nonverbal way. It’s almost an altered state of being, which is a good thing. Thinking gets in the way of art and we have to retrain our brain to take a step back. We think we know what something looks like, but that’s left brain sabotage. Specifically, we have to trick the brain out of the logical talkative side, into the deeper visual perception of information before us. It’s a cool feeling place to be.

Thirdly, successful artists value community. Sharing art, supporting each success, and challenging us to move forward is gold. Art is alive, present, fun, and exciting with our own encouraging Tribe. Doing Art is not a competitive sport. Likewise, Art ‘practice’ becomes Play in our personal creative time to explore and discover aspects of ourselves. As a result, Making Art reveals our innermost thoughts, dreams, and focus in the now. Very powerful!

In conclusion, the Art of Play creates successful artists because it’s relaxing, fun, and enjoyable. You want to be in that place. Creating art makes our lives a better place to be. Studio becomes our sanctuary to strengthen our souls, and listen to our hearts. Join us either on FB Dragonfly Art Club, or consider our upcoming Dragonfly Art Studio membership site wait list.
