Creating from Intuition

Creating from Intuition

FireInCauldronTEXT2It’s so interesting to me how this process works!

I let thinking get the better of me yesterday. Working with oil pastels on a new Wabi Sabi project for the soon to be offered online classes, had me including way too much info, working on far too large of a format, and developing just plain disaster. I chucked the project and literally asked what I should do for this one. Opening the computer, there it was. An image that could be adapted for this project with a few alterations, fit the bill to create in oil pastels, and above all, wasn’t some painstaking, dragged out, thinking ‘way too hard’ experience that drained all the fun out of the creating!

I closed shop for the night, and remembering what Einstein and John Cleese would do, slept on it. It all fell into place this morning. Perfect in every way. Why do we allow ourselves to get so wrapped up in that obsessive, slow paced, constantly chattering Thinking Mind? I guess a lot of it is habit. But it becomes so hard! Being spontaneous, quick, and in the moment, is so much more fun. The results are lighter, freer, simpler, and satisfying.

Maybe it’s taking the new risk that holds us back. We think it’s better to do what was done before. But the Old ways are OLD! Walking away from the tried and true may be the freshest thing to do these days. Trusting in Self, in the Moment, and allowing the art to lead the way may not be the usual way, but we are living in unusual times. Let’s all work on developing that intuition and letting it lead us down new paths. It will be Enlightening!
