Flowers are Metaphors for the cycle of Life, Death, and Resurrection!

Some people seem to see flowers as frivolous, purely decorative items lacking the power to make an impact in the world. The reality is that without flowers, humanity would very likely never have evolved. The first plants were conifers, huge trees with cones, that relied on the wind to carry seeds for procreation. They ruled for thousands of years. Then one day a mutation happened. The seeds grew into pods, and the first tiny petals were formed, encasing stamens, pollen, and a host of sensual reproductive organs within each delicate bloom.

Their creative juices clung to the legs and wings of insects, were eaten and carried far and wide across the world in the greatest migration ever known. From the flowers came the hops and seeds for fruit, vegetables, hops, and all the parts to be ground into various flours for bread. Their beauty, colors, scents lure every creature to do their bidding and spread the seeds. They have been the food for bees to make honey for thousands of years.

Artists have seen their sensual beauty in every era. From Georgia O’Keefe, to Manet, Monet, and Van Gogh, artists have looked to flowers to bring beauty, inner dreams, and imaginative creations to life. They are natures most beautiful life forms, continually creating new varieties from the driest valleys to the tallest mountain peaks. They are survivors, inspiration, symbols of love, healing, and promises the world over. And this practice continues today. The draw of the flower holds a mystery as new artists attempt to capture the life, vitality, and essence of this world wide phenomenon. Flowers Truly Rule.
