The Art of More Time and Less Distraction

The Art of More is about Seeing life away from the old speed of life we’ve known. Artists do this. Monet painted light at different times of the day. Vermeer captured a moment in time ritual in an ordinary day. We can learn to do this during this containment time of corona.

As we step away from the frenzied rat race that we’ve all bought into but never would have created for ourselves, maybe it’s time to see deeper into the invisible real world just outside our door. Why is it so hard to pull away from ‘busyness’, which is so mesmerizing yet so exhausting? Possibly, this time of corona can be the retreat our hearts have longed for.

The Art of more brings balance by feeding our souls. What really matters in life to be happy? We become more conscious of living when we slow down. There’s a freedom to be had in having choice throughout the day. We don’t have to drive anywhere except to get groceries or hardware supplies.

Our own backyard is our retreat. We can choose our meals and our workouts. A treadmill and weights do a great job combined with stretching and yoga. Working from home often finds us working more creatively without a commute, traffic, schedule, or flight to drain our energy. We start to live Life at our own personal pace.

I have become more aware of how little I really ‘need’ to be happy. A difficult mind adjustment in the beginning has now become a more relaxed way of life. We dress up on Saturday night and use the good dishes. Special meals from the local Pasta Shop in town give us delicious taste sensations comparable to the best restaurant.

My husband is learning to cook and help out with all necessities of daily life. I get a better nights sleep without ‘having’ to get up at dawn to see him off. He’s loving working from home. Plus, I’ve heard this over and over again from online people who CAN work from home. Being self sufficient has always been the way to go.

As an artist, I love sheltering in place! I’m painting more than ever, and making truly creative videos for online Classes. Living a creative life is perfect. It’s like the Freedom many of us were lucky enough to have as kids. Our world becomes our imaginary land to create and be inspired as we continue to move forward.
