Schedule Down time to increase pleasure, recharge, and dream!

Get away from ‘busyness’, and relish the moment. Whenever you tremember to SAVOR the moment, the meal, the glass of wine or piece of chocolate, the body immediately slows down. Savoring must be done ‘off the clock’, away from technology, and can be a nurtured feeling. Amazingly, the more you come into mindfulness of all you do, the more productive you become. The mind, the body, the soul yearns and thrives on recess, away from all the multitasking overload. It’s a way of entering Flow, the blissful place where you are relaxed, happy, and involved.

Immersing in your life, your family, your art brings you to a place of at-one-ment, where all you do is easy, simple, and fun. The clue is when things feel hard to do, complicated, confusing….it’s the body crying out to get ‘me out of here’ mode. Time for a Time Out! Go for a short walk outside, gaze out the window at the sky, page through photos in a magazine, pull yourself out the stressful situation and find a new location to experience, if even for just a short while. It will make all the difference to your mind, body, and spirit.

Create a place of Silence. The slow down time can be having lunch at a table, with a flower in a vase, a candle glowing, as you just take time to look around at the beauty to behold. Mindfulness will show you a lot of things that you might miss. Think often of how you can stretch this moment out, how you can make it last, how you can enjoy it to the fullest. What can you do right now to create an atmosphere, a scene, an experience that can be relished as a ‘what a great feeling’ pause in the day? For me, it’s painting. My own private timeless world is when I’m painting on canvas, some beautiful image in my mind’s eye. It’s never fast, or haphazard, or emotional….but it IS Flow! Find your ‘thing’ that triggers the calm down time within you!

Interestingly, creating a moment like this each day, will begin to carry out in your other activities. You’ll be experiencing more and more precious moments that naturally bring balance, rejuvenation, inner peace, and calm in every way possible. This is how to have a life well lived! Living deeply, being fully involved will be the gold of life that you will cherish and remember.
