Small Treasures

One idea leads to another, and more than one painting is needed!

While working on my Golden Stag, I kept seeing another deer, with a circle of Standing Stones behind him. His coloring was different, the background had other things happening. So the Guardian of the Stones was born.

Then in my mind’s eye, there was the woman with the night sky flowing through her face, with almost a translucent quality, that would occur when she conversed with her power animal, the Raven. She entered a trance state, a unique level of Non-ordinary reality, that greatly expanded her senses, her telepathy, and overall feelings. Raven, the great messenger from ancient times, brings news, awareness, and prophecy that is personal to her. He enlightens her, opens her life to new potentials, and adds magic, fantasy, and synchronicity in a very real way.

Working on these other-worldly images helps me balance out the bombardment of social media, opinions, and anger, since I choose not to be in that space. Art is the great healer, the opener of the way, the gatekeeper to the very real land of imagination, that is waiting for each of us every day. I just have to take a step back, several steps away from the computer, and do the act of creating. It is liberating, freeing, and filling.
